switchwall
interactive installation where users draw with light

This interactive wall was covered with 4-way switches, so as you run your hand across each panel, you draw with light in a different colour depending on the direction.
It was one of the pieces featured at my degree show at the Boilerhouse, London as part of an overall concept of using objects as a dialogue between designer and user. The user is involved in the creative process and gets to complete and take ownership of the object, improving sustainability and helping the user make a personal impact on their material environment, counteracting the alienation of consumerism and convenience.
As a piece it lacked a little electrical expertise (Never hold an exposed mains capacitor whilst it's plugged in) but the principle of involving the user in the to design or personalise a product has helped me develop some of my academic work around co-design in all disciplines of design.
